Thank you!
Choosing Graphic Design as my major is a deeply personal and strategic decision that aligns with my educational and professional aspirations. Art and visual storytelling have always been my means of expression as a way to communicate emotions and ideas that words alone cannot capture. Throughout my journey during this semester, I have faced many challenges regarding balancing my personal life and my academic life. These challenges have shaped me to have discipline and resilience. Academically, Graphic Design offers me the opportunity to refine my artistic abilities while gaining technical skills in digital media, branding, and user experience design. Through hands-on experience and my experience in graphic design classes in high school, I hope to receive the skills needed to dive straight into the workforce and learn the modern design principles and techniques of the medium. Professionally, graphic design has always intrigued me. When I was a kid, I used to stare at television advertising and look at commercials in borrowed video game magazines. I want to be able to combine this childhood curiosity with my work ethic to properly explore this medium as a career path. With the competitive nature of the design industry, I must constantly improve my skills and build a strong portfolio. I hope to graduate with a portfolio strong enough to take my creativity to the next level. Without the financial or emotional support of my parents, I also have to be resourceful in securing opportunities such as scholarships, internships, and networking events. Despite these difficulties, I view them as motivation to push myself further. Choosing Graphic Design is more than just a career decision; it is a statement of independence and passion. It represents my commitment to forging my own path, using my artistic voice to tell stories, and using my abilities to create something successful, which will ultimately help me bring my brothers out of the poverty cycle.
